The inaugural Donald Bastiampillai Memorial Trophy Soccer Match was held on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Major Abbas Ali Park in Scarborough.

The match was held in memory of Donald Bastiampillai, bringing together family, friends and the soccer community to honour his life and his love for the game.

It was a particularly meaningful occasion as Donald’s spouse and family were present to witness the match and present the Memorial Trophy to the winning team. Their presence added a special significance to the occasion and allowed everyone gathered to share in remembering Donald.

While the match was played competitively on the field, the day was ultimately about remembering a friend, a family man and someone who made a lasting impression on those who knew him.

Our sincere thanks to Donald’s family, the players, organizers, supporters and everyone who came out to be part of this special tribute.

Pictures from the match, family gathering and trophy presentation are included in this post.

The match was also streamed LIVE on Facebook.
