We are thrilled to extend our heartfelt congratulations to St Benedict’s College, Colombo on the unveiling of their state-of-the-art STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) centre on Friday, January 17th, 2025. This outstanding initiative marks a significant milestone in the College’s ongoing commitment to providing cutting-edge educational facilities that prepare students for a technology-driven future.
The STEM centre, located in the James Memorial Building, was officially opened at 9 am by Minister of Science and Technology, Prof Chrishantha Abeysena. This centre is designed to encourage students to think critically, foster curiosity, deepen their understanding of contemporary challenges, and inspire innovative solutions.
We are immensely proud of the St Benedict’s College Alumni Association – Canada for their substantial contribution to this project. Through the fundraising efforts of the 2024 Amore Valentines Dinner Dance, we were able to donate 20 laptops, valued at $15,000, to support the new STEM centre. This contribution is a testament to the collective effort and dedication of our alumni in enhancing the educational experience of current and future students.
We invite all alumni and supporters to continue backing such transformative initiatives. Join us for the 2025 Amore Valentines Dinner Dance, on February 8th, 2025. Your participation and generosity will enable us to support even more groundbreaking projects at St Benedict’s College.
